Mini-Masterpieces: It’s the Thought that Counts
The mini-masterpieces that you receive as gifts from your kids somehow seem particularly memorable. With small children especially, it doesn’t really matter what the artwork looks like, it represents a true personal gift from your child to you, unlike those gifts ‘from’ small children that are purchased for you on their behalf. The collection above represents what my 2 boys gave me for Mother’s Day this year. The teapot shaped card which my younger son made at nursery also contained a tea-bag – a lovely touch even if I don’t actually like tea! It was accompanied by an ‘empty’ decorated box ‘full of love’ according to the poem attached. It looks somewhat worse for wear in the photo, having recently been stepped on by my son, so I had to ‘restore’ it as best I could! My elder son gave me a card which he had made at school, accompanied by a bunch of daffodils. Both cards will of course be added to the growing collection in my keepsake boxes.
Over the last couple of Mini-Masterpiece link-ups I have learned a few things. One of them is that I need to leave the linky open for longer than just a week – one or two people wanted to add something to the last one and were unable to because it had closed. I know from personal experience how frustrating that can be, so on a trial basis initially I will leave the linky open for 4 weeks. Another lesson I have learned is that it probably helps people if they know exactly when a Linky is going to appear. Mini-Masterpieces is a monthly Linky, but until now I haven’t set a particular date for it each month. So, to make it easier for people to remember, in future my Mini-Masterpieces Linky will be posted on the first day of every month, beginning with the next one on the 1st June. This means that I will miss May on this occasion (which after all is only a couple of weeks away !*!) in order to get it on schedule.
If your children have created a Mini-Masterpiece recently, why not add it below, and while you’re at it, why not help yourself to a badge (available in the sidebar) if you fancy it too!

Jude how lovely!! Red Ted is still excited about the mug he won from your Flickr group!! So we shall be with you every month (I hope). Will also give me an incentive to not “just craft”, but also “try and paint a picture” of sorts regularly..
Thanks
Maggy

Just found your blog. Thanks for the monthly linky opportunity. I hope to be here every month and in between too.
