Creating Artful Christmas Tree Ornaments
Who says that art materials can’t be festive or decorative in their own right? If you’re looking to create an artfully themed Christmas Tree for a studio, creative space, or just at home, here are a few ideas you might like to try…
Festive Paint Brushes
Give those old worn out paintbrushes a new lease of life by transforming them into decorations. Decorate the handles with brightly coloured paints in any style you choose, and then dip the tips into glitter paint, or PVA sprinkled with glitter. Use the hole in the handle to thread a hanging ribbon through, and away you go. Alternatively you can just arrange them in a jar instead where they will look just as good. This is a really simple activity that even young children can get involved with, as long as you protect surfaces and clothing, and use washable paint! Just hold the brush by the bristles while it is being painted, and place it over a jar to allow both sides to dry.

Mini Christmas Easel & Canvas
Decorate the blank canvas with a seasonal image in any way you choose – (the simple images shown were created using glitter glue pens). You will need to glue the canvas onto the easel and thread a ribbon through the easel at the top. Alternatively, these look just as good on a shelf or mantlepiece. You can purchase the blank canvas and easels in sets using the affiliate link at the bottom of the page.

Artwork Keepsake Baubles
I first created these baubles a couple of Christmases ago, and they still look good upon the tree. You can fill them with pieces of children’s artwork as I did, or with art materials instead. Even colourful pencil shavings look good! You can check out the original post here and you can purchase empty glass baubles using the affiliate link at the bottom of this post.

Pencil Crayon Bundles
You can use pencil crayons, wax crayons or bundles of colourful pens wrapped up with decorative string, ribbon or tinsel.
Alternatively, try decorating your own pencils first – they make a great personalised gift too! Check out the tutorials below to find out more…

Tubes of Paint
Use bulldog clips threaded through with ribbon to suspend tubes of paint as ornaments on your tree.
